Deciding to Make that Move

Deciding to Make that Move

Renovating a home is definitely not for the faint of heart, but since I am not afraid to dive into a big project being and interior designer and my husband Dave is as handy as they come we thought why not right??

When we got married we settled into the community of Ocotillo in Chandler, Arizona. We had both lived in several cities in Phoenix area and home prices were pretty good for the amount of space we wanted in Chandler. Our first home we bought as a foreclosure in 2007 and we did a ton of cosmetic changes to it. Just think cabinets, paint, flooring, bathroom remodeling...... Let's just say it was cutting edge design in 2007 LOL!
Our kids were growing up a bit and we just felt like we needed a little more space. The back yard wasn't very big and to be honest, there were so many expensive changes we had made that we couldn't bare to undo.
My design taste had changed over the 9 years of living there and I wanted to change my floors and bathrooms and cabinets and at that point it was either live with it or MOVE!!
So we decided to do it!! We found our dream (well kinda) home about a mile away from our existing house. It had been sitting vacant for about 2 years. The pool is green, the yard is dead and the the decor is stuck in the early 2000's . Perfect right? I won't even feel guilty about tearing the whole thing apart and making it exactly what we need to function for our family!
Here are the kids on moving day. They were a little sad to leave this house, it is really all they have ever known. It wasn't like the house we were moving into looked all that appetizing either. There was still so much work to do.
We promised them they would love our new home even more than the one we were leaving.... Our last family picture at the old house.
This is merely a preface to take you on our journey of our new home and fast forward to 2020 where now we are adding on a 1200 sq foot addition.
So follow along as we make this home the most perfect place for our family!
